Once again Christina Radish proves why she is one of the best interviewers out their: insightful questions that demonstrate her knowledge of the product!
“IESB: Were there any specific parts of the film that you were most looking forward to talking about for the commentary?
Chris: I was very happy to talk about some of the more complicated shots that we did, like the roundy-round shot. That was a bit in which we took what was a series of chapter headings in the book and turned it into a motion-control shot in which the seasons passed as Kristen Stewart’s character, Bella, remained in the same place. What I like to do with CG is to use it as expressively as possible, and not to make things blow up good, but to sometimes render something ineffable that would be very difficult to do in camera. That involved a lot of work, in which a motion-control camera captured the movement of our steady-cam operator. So, it was a pleasure to talk about that, and about what goes into something like that.
IESB: Having had to deal with stunts, green screen, CGI, weather, bugs and everything you had going on, what was the biggest challenge in bringing this film to the screen, so as to please as many of the fans as possible?
Chris: I think the greatest challenge was the logistical load of it. When you’re talking about taking a film from beginning to end in one year, it’s difficult to do that with a normal film where people are just sitting on their butts, talking to one another. But, when you add in underwater work, heavy CGI work and wire work, it becomes extraordinarily complicated. And then, you add in getting the London Symphony Orchestra to record a soundtrack, and getting 10 or so indie bands to compose songs especially for the film, there are a lot of timelines that are ticking along, at the same time, and you hope that you are able to combine it all at the right point. And, you always end up, just at the last minute, on the last day, your final CGI shot comes in. There are about 400 and something CGI shots, which actually isn’t that many compared to what I’ve done before, but it’s quite a lot. It can complicate things when you’re in the editing room.”

My family was playing the New Moon Card Game on Monday night this week (this game is the little one in the cool metal box just bigger than the size of the cards and one die). The game is for the movie, not the book.
The game includes trivia questions, some of which ask about things that weren’t in the “New Moon” film.
We wondered, “Did these game questions come from an earlier script, and were later cut from the film?” Presumably, these things take time, so that could make sense.
So, here’s the questions we found that we don’t remember seeing in the “New Moon” film (answers are below). Do you know the answers?:
What do you think…? Do these scenes sound awesome to you? Were these scenes filmed? Will they be included in the New Moon DVD’s deleted scenes? And, why were they deleted?
Also, here are a couple quick scans of scenes from the cards — both of Victoria — that we don’t remember seeing in “New Moon” either:

HitFix has posted a small revelation heard on the New Moon DVD (which they were lucky enough to review ahead of release).
During the DVD commentary with Chris Weitz and editor Peter Lambert, Chris reveals he wasn’t happy with the outcome of the flash-forward scene where Edward and Bella are running through the forest:
Speaking to Weitz earlier this week, the director laughed about the moment and admitted that he discovered the mistake a bit too late.
“I think it could have been less than an Arcadian fairy tale running through the foresty movement and more of an abstract at Kristen flash on her face,” Weitz says of what he would have changed. “That would have avoided laughter, which wasn’t only heard at the premiere where there are cynics and jaded Hollywood types, but the most packed fan screenings.”
HitFix seems to be very happy with the commentary included on the DVD. They describe it as “long and funny”.

Hit Fix has their version up of Chris Weitz talking about the New Moon DVD and future projects:
“Speaking to Weitz earlier this week, the director laughed about the moment and admitted that he discovered the mistake a bit too late.
Weitz, who is currently prepping his independent drama “The Gardner ” for Summit Entertainment (the same company that shepherds “Twilight”) was taking time out of his busy schedule to talk about the release of the highly anticipated two-disc DVD on March 23. It’s clear one of the reasons he’s doing more publicity for the film is because he feels “tremendously grateful” for the support of the “Twilight” fanbase which helped “New Moon” hit $706 million worldwide and revitalize his career. He notes, “I feel like it was two-way street. The reason the fans have been kind to me is i really approached it from step one as ‘What would I want as a reader of the book?’ I didn’t concern myself with making a four quadrant movie or any overall effect other than to be true to the nature of the book. To be able to entertain people and give people joy in that way is something a director looks for his whole life.”

Kristen Stewart recounts her experience winning the BAFTA and shared her thoughts in being in the limelight.
Before the first Twilight movie in 2008, I was a much more open person. Now I spend a lot of time looking at the floor in public in an attempt not to get noticed. It can get a little boring. But whatever sacrifices I’ve had to make as a rising star, my job makes up for it a hundredfold.
I won the Orange Rising Star Award at the Baftas last week. As I stood on stage at the Royal Opera House, I felt overwhelmed – in front of all these industry people, whom I don’t just admire, but who are the foundation of what I want to do. It’s hard to explain how it feels being in the same room as Kate Winslet. Perhaps it’s similar to how a Twilight fan feels on seeing me in person.
Some people say I’m anti-Hollywood, but I’m really not at all. I just think it’s pretty weird to show up at things that you have no reason to go to. To go out just for the sake of it is plain ridiculous.
I’ve been asked a million times in interviews about being a role model. I don’t really like to consider it. I’m aware that people look up to me, but I am myself for myself and not for anybody else. I choose my work impulsively.
I’ve been walking around London in a hoody these last few days looking at all the old buildings. It’s all fine until a diehard fan notices your sneakers. But I can always see a crowd and turn around and walk the other way.
In terms of history, we have nothing in LA. Here you can feel Jack the Ripper lurking around every corner. It’s nicer here because there’s a sense that I’m a real person. Perhaps I’m more of a novelty. In LA I tend to get people who gawk at me like I’m an animal, take pictures and scream things at me. There’s no way of being open in public anymore. There’s a five-minute exchange every 30 seconds that prevents me from even buying a loaf of bread at the grocery store.

Make-up artist Robin Mathews worked with Kristen Stewart on New Moon and The Runaways. She is now sharing on how to achieve Kristen’s Joan Jett look.
“The Runaways were such pioneers with their makeup looks that it was imperative to us all to get it exactly right,” Robin says. “Every look in the movie is a recreation of actual photos of the real people,” Robin explains. “We used makeup to not only recreate the beauty aspect of the looks but to also sculpt the actors’ faces to look more like the people they were playing.”
To get Kristen’s Joan look, “It’s all about black eye liner pencil. Apply generously and smudge away!” Robin says. “The key to getting it so worn in is to apply, smudge, then repeat. I like to use a small brush to smudge but you can also use a sponge tipped applicator or even a q-tip if you’re in a pinch,” she suggests.
She also cleared the issue that Kristen sleeps in her make-up.
“I was misquoted. One or two times, when Joan’s character was in the depths of the wear-and-tear from the rock and roll lifestyle, we applied eyeliner overnight — because it needed to look realistic for the film — but no other makeup was left on overnight,” Robin says. “No one should sleep in their makeup overnight. Kristen does not sleep in her makeup.”

His work with the Twilight franchise is now complete (unless he directs Breaking Dawn, of course), but People Magazine recently caught up with New Moon director Chris Weitz to see what he’d like to see in Eclipse:
“I’m looking forward to the sleeping bag scene, I gotta say,” Weitz tells PEOPLE. “That’s going to be very steamy.”
Weitz also says he is eager to see Edward’s vampire “parents,” played by Elizabeth Reaser and Peter Facinelli, sink their teeth into Eclipse’s more intense action.
“I have a special interest in seeing Peter and Elizabeth tear people’s heads off,” he says with a laugh. “Knowing them, and how kind of kooky and delightful they are, I’m going to find seeing them being ultra-violent very interesting indeed.”

The Wall Street Journal has published an article where it states the public’s fascination and obsession with Twilight’s Robert Pattinson:
In a recent survey of 130,000 women by iVillage Entertainment, 87% said they would trade their husband for British actor Robert Pattinson. Clearly, some of them were kidding. The rest will just have to accept that the 23-year-old Mr. Pattinson, like the romantic vampire Edward Cullen he embodies in the “Twilight” movie series, is unlikely ever to cross their paths outside the realm of dreams.
Until now, most of those dreams were sweet or at least private ones. Yet as Mr. Pattinson made the rounds in New York this week to promote his new, nonvampire movie, “Remember Me,” the spectacle of his sexploitation—how else to put it?—was grotesque. What’s being wrecked is the essence of his appeal, and he’s really not old enough to safeguard it.
Whatever Pattinson-appreciation is built on, the gateway drug for most women (and fewer men) is Stephanie Meyer’s “Twilight,” a classic saga of young love. The twist is that Edward hasn’t been human since he was bitten by a vampire in 1918, and yet he soulfully strives to protect Bella, the ordinary girl who returns his affection, from his own monstrous fate.
A beautiful man with the will and strength to maintain eternal devotion? A few joyless types missed the big picture and veered off on tangents about stalking and other tedious subjects. But most girls got it instantly, and adult women perked up as if from a torpor—even if they could only sneak off to Robsessed.com and other Web sites after the children and a resentful husband or boyfriend were asleep. Then, they talk about Mr. Pattinson as if he were their own personal brand of heroin. “I’m addicted,” a mother of four laments. “When will it end?” “O.M.G. When will we wake up?” types someone else. “When he’s 40? 50?”
After more than a year of mainstream-culture derision aimed at so-called twitards, vindication of a kind arrived in the March issue of a trendy men’s magazine, Details. There, a headline finally asks the $64,000 question: “So the Woman You Love Has the Hots for a Vampire. What Does That Say About You?” Nothing good. But the worm turns again elsewhere in the same issue, in a creepy photo spread where Mr. Pattinson appears fully clad but looking dwarfed and diminished by a towering phalanx of naked female models.

In celebration of the World Book Day, a poll was conducted amongst the British people on which book would they likely pass on to the next generation. The poll was topped by the favorite Harry Potter series but the Twilight books placed 5th in the poll.
Books turned films led the way with The Da Vinci Code in second place and Stephanie Meyer’s Twilight in fifth.
More than 1,000 people were polled, from ages 16 to 64.
