MTV: The rumormill has been churning for months, speculating on just who will be joining the highly anticipated two-part finale of “The Twilight Saga” (remember those Lee Pace whisperings?). Well today, courtesy of ET Online, we have confirmation of one new “Breaking Dawn” face: “The Pacific” star Rami Malek. Rami will be playing vampire Benjamin, and, unsurprisingly, he’s super-psyched to be joining the franchise. “I think it’s going to be great,” he told ET. “It’s going to be super-exciting, and I’m thrilled…”
Rami looks to be a great fit for this role. Though he’s nearly 30 (29, to be exact), he oozes a boyish presence, and he certainly has the olive complexion and dark hair necessary to pull off the role physically. Plus, did we mention he has experience playing an ancient Egyptian in the “Night at the Museum” flicks?
US: “By no means do I want to be a piece of meat for the rest of my career. It’s funny when you get asked to do a talk show, and then they follow it up with requesting you take your shirt off.”
The star called Us from New Orleans on the fifth anniversary of Hurricane Katrina; working with charity the St. Bernard Project, Lutz helped build five houses in seven days for the still-recovering city.
“We were working around the clock at 50 hours at a time in different shifts,” Lutz marveled. “We got it done just in time. We had so many people come out and lend a helping hand. It was so touching. ”
Lutz’s girlfriend AnnaLynne McCord first introduced him to the St. Bernard Project. “She really educated me on the need down there,” Lutz told Us. “You don’t really grasp what is going on unless you are down there experiencing it.” (He also recently shot a romantic comedy, Love Wedding Marriage, with Mandy Moore, in the area.)
He’ll be back in Louisiana when Breaking Dawn begins filming in Baton Rouge. “I’m hoping to truck down and work with the St. Bernard Project [there] as well. Hopefully I’ll be bring some other cast members too.”
Cast members like…Robert Pattinson? “It would be a great surprise for everyone,” Lutz said, laughing. “Although I would have to take video of Rob trying to hammer a nail, he might hurt himself.”
Reelz Channel: The first new cast member has been announced for The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn. Rami Malek, a 29-year-old actor of Egyptian descent, will be playing vampire Benjamin in Breaking Dawn Part 2. If he looks familiar, you may have seen him (in headdress and mummy wrap) as Ahkmenrah in both Night at the Museum movies.
Benjamin — who’s part of the Egyptian coven with Tia, Amun, and Kebi — can control the natural elements (fire, water, earth, and air), a unique ability among vampires. He only appears at the end of the book, with the rest of the vampire covens, and doesn’t have a huge part in how the story plays out. That said, it’s possible screenwriter Melissa Rosenberg will create bigger parts for select characters, definitely an option that could play well for fan favorites.
Perez Hilton: We like!
Rami Malek has a role in the upcoming Breaking Dawn, Part 2 and he’s pretty happy to have snagged such a prime spot in the cast!
“I think it’s going to be great,” says Rami. “it’s going to be super exciting and I’m thrilled.”
The Sun: ROBERT PATTINSON is giving his beard a real opportunity to shine.
The Twilight star has been growing the facial fluff for a while now and has long passed the designer stubble stage.
I would say he’s reached the RE teacher phase of growth.
Hot Hits: One of Ashley’s closet pals recently spoke to HEAT magazine about her new romance with Joe, “She really likes him. Like, a lot. But she knows she can’t give in too easily or he’ll move on. She’s been pretty aloof and it’s driving Joe crazy.”
Her playing hard to get tactics seem to be working too, Ashley’s friend also said, “Joe is waiting on her every word, he’ll say something like, ‘About time!’ when she does answer, and he’s got this joking tone, but we all know he was waiting for her with baited breath. It’s pretty cute.”
NaaNoo: The teen star also confesses acting is the only career for her, although she would like to continue with her education alongside film commitments.
She said: “I do want to go to college, I want to be able to act and go to college at the same time. But it is absolutely what I want to do with the rest of my life. I can’t imagine doing anything else. It’s what I love.
Discussing her dream collaborations, Dakota claims Jodie Foster is a big inspiration for her due to her career longevity.
She told website NY1: “I’ve always wanted to work with Jodie Foster, I really admire because just because she’s started young and she’s continued and it’s just something I want to do. I want to constantly challenge myself. I hope by the end of my life I’ve been able to do all genres.
Manila Times: Vampires used to be described as monsters that suck not only the blood of humans but also the life out of them. But the vicious idea that was planted in people’s mind toward these creatures has changed a few years ago when a fan-fiction writer created vampire characters which people across the globe fell in love with. It was in 2006 when the first book of the Twilight Saga, written by Stephanie Myer has seen the light of day. With the likes of Edward Cullen, the too-gentleman-to-be-a-vampire character of the story, readers of all ages were hypnotized and just can’t get enough of the vampire stories. It was then that the preceding books became a certified blockbuster hits, which as of this year, has sold more than 80 million copies worldwide.
In 2008, the Twilight Saga become a certified hit motion picture. Beyond the flack that it earned from the movie critics, the amount of money that it earned from the Twihards all over the world contradicts it all.
And with the popularity that it earned in just few years time, the pop culture was conquered by these vicious creatures. The vampires become the new trendsetter. And readers had stepped into the twilight zone.
Washington City Paper: A self-admitted fan of Twilight, Anne Rice, and The Lost Boys. Ferrer doesn’t look the part of a vampire author.
Stylelist: the actress has been in New Orleans filming “Love, Wedding, Marriage” with actor/Calvin Klein underwear model Kellan Lutz and Mandy Moore (whose infamous ex, Wilmer Valderrama, also made a late appearance at the party).
“Mandy Moore is the most sweet, down-to-earth, lovely person. Kellan and I have been friends for a while and it’s crazy to film a movie with him, with how big ‘Twilight’ is,” she said. “I thought working on ‘Gossip Girl’ and seeing how people go crazy about all the characters was a lot. But working with him — oh my God, it was insane!”
The Australian: THE final Twilight films have been dated for Australian release. Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 1 will be in cinemas on November 17 – next year – and part two won’t be released here until November 15, 2012.
The Improper: “Robert Pattinson Should Heed Cancer Victim Michael Douglas”
“Twilight” star Robert Pattinson’s good looks and charm is offset by his nasty habit of chain smoking cigarettes. Although he’s young and healthy he should take a warning from actor Michael Douglas before it’s too late.
Since he rocketed to stardom in the Twilight series, Pattinson at times appears to be almost a chain smoker. While there have been reports that he is eating healthier, cigarettes will ultimately doom him.
His girlfriend Kristen Stewart also smokes heavily.
At his age, 24, people tend to brush off health concerns over cigarette smoking because they body is able to better resist the damage. But rest assured the damage is being done.
Most teens and twenty-somethings also can’t see beyond their youth and don’t even think about their old age or see smoking as a fatalistic, or rebellious act.
But actor Michael Douglas is a prime example of what can happen.
His father, legendary actor Kirk Douglas is 93, and outside of a stroke in his later years, has lived a long robust life.
With longevity genes like that, Michael, 65, probably thought, he too, could look forward to a similar life span.
But he has been diagnosed with stage IV throat cancer. He blames it on smoking cigarettes and drinking alcohol…
Rob acknowledged in a new interview that he is eating much better, despite his hectic lifestyle, by having healthy meals delivered.
He has found a perfect mate in Kristen, who likes to cook, bake pies and watch the “Food Network.”
Part of Rob’s problem is his heavy travel schedule. That often includes periods of downtime when he smokes to pass the time.
“My home consists of three suitcases which I live out of,” he says. “Everything is in there.”
Cancer is a killer no matter how healthy you are. If you smoke nothing else matters, whether it’s eating better or exercising.
